ANALYTICAL WATERCOLOR

Automatic Form – Drawing From Drawing

I hate Pinterest. I’ve said this before.  But now there is a new Pinterest board in which many of my watercolors have been pinned. It is called Analytical Watercolor. And the author saw fit to include my drawings with the watercolors of others.  And one of them is a Star.

We have used the terms analysis in these pages.  One was in our discussion of Analytical Cubism.   So the term analytical is right on.  All I want to add is that with Transparent Drawing,  possibly there is a proto analysis, a super analysis, in which you analyze by articulating the parts within the holistic context of the piece.   Not quite analysis.  Not quite synthesis.

Anyway, if you have been faithfully following along with Transparent Drawing, it might be a relief to check out this board so as to see my drawings in context with others.

Now?  I love Pinterest.

The drawing above is a Drawing from Drawing.  I have included the source iteration below.   I increased the volume by applying the mode of Automatic Form.  The drawing below was based on the geometry of a drawing by Amy Sillman.
