SHAMELESS DUMB CAT

Sex and dumb cat photos sells. I’m sorry to have to report that since I posted Sexy Sketches, the pageviews to Transparent Drawing have tripled.

And since I have made it perfectly clear that there is no sex here, then this increased traffic is due to dumb cat photos. And since I have absolutely no shame, I posted another dumb cat photo, just to see if the momentum will continue.

Actually, the photo demonstrates one of the hazards of analogue drawing. With a cat like ours, his absolutely avid interest in what I am drawing can be so intense that the light onto the page is blocked.  In fact, from this photo, you might deduce that it is indeed the cat who is generating the ideas for Transparent Drawing;  I am simply the medium.

This of course can trigger any number of non Transparent like effects. Because you can’t see what you are really doing when the cat blocks your light, you might find yourself regressing to representational drawing techniques. Or the watercolor wash might not be applied properly.  The color might be off or there might be too much water.  It can result in total disaster.

So let’s see.  In this post, I have used the word sex / sexy two times so far.  And there is a dumb cat photo.  Given our cultural imperatives, these should be the ingredients to continue to reap high (at least for me) page views.  Although if someone types sex into their browser and then this photo shows up, they will think that the internet is broken.
