STICKBOARD DIGITAL INTERFACE

I’ve come up with a great new digital interface. It’s called the Stickboard.

This new product has been designed to eliminate your laptop’s keyboard by fitting directly over it. The Stickboard provides an  analogue based feel as you control your digital devices.  An entirely new protocol is defined by the manipulable sticks which comprise the key replacements.

No more hunting and pecking!  The crude spring-based buttons are replaced with modules which can be manipulated in full three dimensional spacetime, and in realtime.  The new device acts as movement detectors.  For example, when movement of the hand is detected, tones are produced across your physical surface.  Amazing!

Each component of this interface has a discreet channel which provides immediate graphic integration and sensation.  Variations in pressure and speed result in a direct tonal value, giving unprecedented digital control.  Despite their digitality, analogue sensations are now possible given the Stickboard’s ability to provide small value changes within a broad operating range.  And these discreet tonal values can be combined, thereby giving a limitless expression range.

There is a direct and immediate relationship between the input and output.  Realtime sensory feedback, coupled with an across the board possibility range, gives an unprecedented expression value.  Hand gestures comprising a physicality initiate an activation of immediate visual changes.

With the composite of a pointing device, touchscreen and mousepad, data and control signals are directly fed into your information processing system in your information appliance.  Many will think of this new device as the most integrated interface that they have ever used.  This is the true graphical user interface (GUI).  This is the way it should have been designed from the beginning!  Given the absolute and direct input, simulation of any relative input modes are no longer necessary.
