WOVEN DRAWING – VILLA SAVOYE

We introduced Woven Drawing as a Transparent Drawing Assembly few pages back. So to kick around some more one of our favorites, what about a Woven Villa Savoye?

If you let your eye follow the tones, you will see that they more or less describe the ins and outs of this form. It’s all there: the second story patio, the center vertical circulation, the ribbon windows, etc.

Why draw with this Assembly? It gives a fresh pathway with which to knowledge form. It provides a means with which to focus your knowledge on a form. The result, as always, is holistic understanding. And you did it with a unique assembly which will increase your knowledge.

And it is easy! Just pick any object you want to knowledge. Use your coffee cup. Use your watercolor set. And take bands of tone and weave them around and thru your object. Draw the lines first. Then apply the wash. Look as closely as you want at your object and draw with great detail if you like. Or just take one or two wash bands as your knowledge.
